Rimske ceste IN VIA GEMINA

Rimljani so dajali prometnim, še posebno pa cestnim povezavam, velik pomen. Tako se ne gre čuditi, da so že okrog leta 450 pr. n. št. z zakonom standardizirali gradnjo cest. Ta je med drugim določal širino cestišča 2,45 m na ravnih odsekih in 4,90 m na ovinkih (kasneje se uveljavi gradnja med 4,0 in 6,0 metrov širokih cest, tako, da se lahko srečajo dve kočiji), pravila za tlakovanje in pravico do rabe privatnih zemljišč (služnost). Po pomembnosti se rimske ceste delijo v javne, stranske, krajevne in privatne ceste.
